@PaulaToThePeople Is there a good place to highlight content management systems that support AP, either natively or with third-party plugin support? I feel the key to getting more adoption of the fedi is in getting mainstream content (media/institutions/gov et cetera) in the ecosystem.

#JoinFediverseWiki is almost ready for it's official launch in 8 days.

joinfediverse.wiki

Right now I'm gathering feedback from people who are not deep into the Fediverse yet.
What you can do to help:
* #boost this post.
* show the wiki to your non-fedizen friends and forward me their feedback.
* of course you can give me feedback yourself even if you're a Fediverse veteran.
* help edit the wiki. For now I wrote almost everything myself.

Happy holidays everybody. 🎉

@humanetech I was hoping that "Social Cloud" could be a thing, I like as well.

Been saying for a while that there's too much technobabble in this space, and what we need now is more clarity.

If you are a fan of free open source projects (or any other kind of project for that matter), try asking them if they have a Fediverse account. Even if they don't, this will let them know there's demand for being on the Fedi.

If they DO have an account, please let me know so I can promote them on @FediFollows 👍

"Earlest known mention of the Fediverse was in 2013 by Mikael Nordfeldth in a W3C mailing list for the Federated Social Web Community Group" according to its wiktionary entry:

@jackwilliambell Noted, but it's a descriptor that came from someone and is in common use. I think a better descriptor awaits.

no offense to the people who coined the original term but I think it's poor branding.

Can we collectively come up with a better name than "Fediverse"? How does Open Web, with interoperable social extensions sound?

Bluesky was announced in December 2019. It is now December 2021. The community Discord server is still arguing about what identity is.

@raphael @Mastodon I'm not in a rush to support alternative dns roots on either my own personal devices nor any servers I maintain. I don't know myself what I'd need to change to support resolution of .eth domains but I'll wait until it's done at the OS level if at all.

@raphael @Mastodon perhaps this should be directed towards Mastodon gGmbH, but I assume solving for censorship-resistance isn't a priority for the project.

@raphael @Mastodon I'm personally okay with domains being pulled from registrants, if necessary, in existing top-level domain registry model.

@raphael I imagine this is more or less out of scope for @Mastodon though. If they want to implement it, by all means that's fine, but if they don't that doesn't bother me either.
