Now we're going to war and I'm still angry about those kids in cages.

USPol

I called my Representative this afternoon to lodge a request that she urge House Judiciary to introduce new articles of impeachment for Trump's catastrophic mishandling of the situation in Iraq and Iran. (I also took the opportunity to remind her that Flint still doesn't have potable water.)

If you live in the US, when you get the chance, I suggest you do the same. (Representatives also have email contact via their government website, if you're phone-anxious.)

Why don't public agencies run ActivityPub compliant web services? If I'm being taxed at least that public money should fund a fellow fedi admin.

Hello Fediverse! After FAR too long of a break, I'm happy to share FediverseCast Episode 2!

fediversecast.com/2020/01/06/f

I want to try for ~1 episode per week in 2020. In order to do that, the show is moving away from a primarily interview-style format to just me @kevinflo discussing topics solo

Hope you enjoy. Boosts appreciated! #podcast

In early 2017 I was tired, and disappointed, and about to leave federated networks. Then one amazing Fediverse user reminded me of the remedy:

"Learn to rest, not to quit".

Perhaps someone here needs this advice now.

30 years ago, Calvin worried about the Russians. The actors today are different but the script is the same. It’s like watching Groundhog Day, again and again and again… Bill taught Calvin the lesson in six panels. How many re-runs will it take us? t.co/tJM7RmiLxM

Dear Fediverse,

Soon, some venture capitalist will put $5 million into a startup that offers free fediverse accounts with unlimited storage, etc.

Unless every other instance instantly blocks such a service from Day 1, you can kiss your fediverse goodbye and say hello to a new Gmail. Once network effects kick in, they will make the rules.

It _can_ happen here but you have an opportunity to kill it before it does.

I love this philosophy! 🙂

Thank you, Tobias. And thank you to the original anonymous person who created and maintained it until now.

I think most importantly, I want to see the internet transition from a network of a few corporate giants to a network of thousands of small, well-connected organizations. Rather than sustainability via multibillion dollar corporation budgets, sustainablity via grassroots user-funded sources and low operational expenses. Cooperation over competition.

so uh since i guess you found it, https://search.social is my new project. It's a search engine for the fediverse, it's not an archive nor anything malicious. You can easily opt-out (like you would normally do for any search engine), deletes are deleted, and it's not an archive!

And while I mentioned some of our features that are exclusive to Write.as today, of course you can get the same writing experience with the free and open-source software behind it all, #WriteFreely.
