The Smithsonian announced today that they have released 2.8 million images into the public domain (CC0 license). In celebration of this I made a bot you can follow that will post one random image from the set every 8 hours:

Attention #Mastodon sysadmins! A new release with some security fixes will drop on Thursday, prepare to upgrade -- we'll release 2.9.x, 3.0.x, and 3.1.x versions to make sure you have the easiest time upgrading for this.
Just a friendly driving tip from a 27 yr veteran truck driver. If you are passing a large tractor trailer. Mash the gas and GO! Dont slow down like you are trying sneak past a sleeping dog.
Dont linger around us. We literally can not see you. And the longer you are there the higher the chance that something could happen. So mash the gas and tote that ass on by. Please!

#Mastodon 3.1 is out! 🎉
Among other things, bookmarks, admin announcements with emoji reactions, improvements to mod tools and loads of other fixes!
Hey #fediverse experts. I'd like to host an instance for an #environment #protection #ngo but since they obviously care about resources and I heard that #mastodon has a heavy footprint I struggle to find a middle ground. Do you have ideas what to do about it? I e.g. heard about #rustodon but it is nothing near production ready yet.
Boosting is highly appreciated. :)

Now releasing: FediverseCast episode 3!
In this episode I talk about how the Fediverse doesn't actually solve any of social media's problems... but how it might!

I called my Representative this afternoon to lodge a request that she urge House Judiciary to introduce new articles of impeachment for Trump's catastrophic mishandling of the situation in Iraq and Iran. (I also took the opportunity to remind her that Flint still doesn't have potable water.)
If you live in the US, when you get the chance, I suggest you do the same. (Representatives also have email contact via their government website, if you're phone-anxious.)
In this first episode of Fediverse Friday, I talk about what the Fediverse is and and what it isn't.

Hello Fediverse! After FAR too long of a break, I'm happy to share FediverseCast Episode 2!
I want to try for ~1 episode per week in 2020. In order to do that, the show is moving away from a primarily interview-style format to just me @kevinflo discussing topics solo
Hope you enjoy. Boosts appreciated! #podcast
